Senior Embedded Systems Engineer (IoT)

Location: Salt Lake City, United States. This is an onsite role at the headquarters, with all teams working from an office five days a week.

What you will do

• Co-lead end-to-end development of firmware and software for building controller hardware, from architecture through high-volume production.
• Design and implement HIL/SIL testing frameworks to validate robust and fail-safe embedded code before verification and validation handoff.
• Architect and implement product features with platform architects, product management, and product design teams.
• Debug hardware and software integrations and maintain platform robustness through structured bug management.
• Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, industrial design, and verification and validation teams to deliver reliable products.
• Maintain technical and code documentation and communicate design intent and progress.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience with embedded systems and embedded software development.
• Strong programming skills in C, C++, and Python, plus experience with Embedded Linux and/or RTOS development.
• Experience with ARM SoCs, wireless protocols such as BLE, Mesh, and Zigbee, and safety and radio compliance testing.
• Strong electronic laboratory, system debugging, schematic, and electronic systems skills.
• Experience with schematic capture and board layout using Altium.
• Proficiency with Git, clear technical communication, and the ability to lead, mentor, and collaborate across disciplines.

Nice to have

• Startup experience and experience working with overseas vendors or supporting manufacturing.
• Mentoring or cross-functional team leadership experience.
• RF design, Swift, autonomous systems, machine learning, or energy systems experience.
• Experience setting up AI-assisted testing systems or personal technical projects demonstrating initiative.
