TL;DR
Mission Operations Engineer III (Aerospace): Architecting ground segment systems and flight operations products for complex lunar missions with an accent on mission planning, verification, simulation, and console execution. Focus on designing end-to-end operational frameworks, leading mission scenario testing and training campaigns, and resolving high-pressure technical and operational risks across spacecraft and ground teams.

Location: hirify.global is headquartered in north Austin, Texas; the posting does not specify a separate work arrangement or candidate location requirement.

Company

hirify.global develops space and defense technology for launch, landing, and operation of space systems from Earth to the Moon and beyond.

What you will do

  • Own end-to-end ground segment architecture, enterprise requirements, design trades, configuration control, and mission readiness.
  • Define mission-specific ground segment specifications spanning civil, national security, customer, security, and data domains.
  • Develop operational standards, mission operations plans, flight rules, command sequences, and fault detection, isolation, and recovery processes.
  • Lead verification and validation campaigns, mission scenario testing, simulations, rehearsals, and hardware-in-the-loop coordination.
  • Lead training and certification for mission and flight operations teams, assessing nominal and off-nominal readiness.
  • Execute mission plans in critical console roles, manage anomalies under pressure, and lead long-duration shifts and rehearsals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering or a related discipline.
  • 7–12+ years of professional aerospace experience focused on the mission lifecycle.
  • Proven experience leading a major mission phase such as launch, landing, or rendezvous and proximity operations, or managing a ground segment development campaign.
  • Experience architecting ground-system frameworks, script validation protocols, or full-scale simulation campaigns.
  • Strong proficiency with software for automating ground-system tasks and processing mission data.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional technical work, resolve complex tradeoffs, mentor engineers, and make high-value decisions with minimal supervision.

Nice to have

  • Experience as a Flight Director, Lead Mission Controller, or equivalent.
  • Expertise in pre-launch verification, Day-in-the-Life testing, Mission Scenario Tests, and sustained on-orbit operations governance.
  • Experience with CUI environments or workflows designed to scale into classified mission operations.
  • Active or previous U.S. Government security clearance at Secret, TS, or TS/SCI level.

Culture & Benefits

  • Work on complex, multi-manifested missions to destinations including the lunar far side and south pole.
  • Collaborate across spacecraft, systems engineering, ground software, IT, cyber, facilities, flight dynamics, service providers, customers, and mission partners.
  • Support mission operations across the full lifecycle, from concept and planning through console execution.
