Senior Analyst-Import/Export (Classification)

Location: Colorado Springs, Colorado, United States; Monday–Friday, 8 hours per day, inside work; domestic and international travel may be required.

Annual base salary: $57,784–$128,000 USD, plus restricted stock units and quarterly bonus payments.

What you will do

• Apply U.S. HTS, ECCN, Schedule B, and international classification codes, including EU, UK, and ASEAN systems, to company products.
• Analyze complex product specifications, datasheets, schematics, block diagrams, and engineering documentation to make accurate classification decisions.
• Prepare and submit CCATS requests, including supporting documentation for encryption items, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection binding ruling requests.
• Work with engineering, product management, manufacturing, logistics, and sales teams to gather and assess product information.
• Support junior analysts and provide classification guidance to internal and external customers.
• Maintain classification records, participate in audits and reviews, and monitor regulatory changes.

Requirements

• 7–9 years of directly related experience, or a bachelor’s degree with 3–5 years of directly related experience, in global trade compliance with demonstrated export-classification proficiency.
• Strong working knowledge of the Export Administration Regulations, Commerce Control List, and U.S. Harmonized Tariff Schedule classification principles.
• Experience classifying products under U.S. export and import regulations using ECCN, Schedule B, and HTS codes.
• Experience supporting classification of electronics, semiconductors, or other technical products.
• Experience preparing, supporting, or submitting CCATS requests, including encryption-related submissions.
• Ability to work cross-functionally, interpret technical information, explain classification decisions, and maintain accurate documentation.
• Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, written communication, and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with trade compliance tools, government systems, or ERP platforms; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and travel domestically and internationally as required.
• U.S. export-control eligibility: proof of U.S. citizenship, permanent U.S. residency, or protected-individual status under 8 USC 1324b(a)(3).

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in International Business/Trade, Supply Chain/Logistics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a related field.
• Familiarity with ITAR, the U.S. Munitions List, and related jurisdiction and classification concepts.
• Knowledge of international classification systems and regulatory requirements, including EU, UK, ASEAN, or other non-U.S. jurisdictions.
• Familiarity with logistics processes, import regulations, export filing requirements, and international shipping procedures.
• Working knowledge of SQL and experience with reporting, analytics, or data visualization tools such as Tableau.
