What you will do

  • Own the hardware roadmap from conceptual design and structural layout through sizing analysis, production, and structural testing.
  • Design and develop composite pressurized primary structures for launch vehicles.
  • Optimize mass, requalify existing designs, and support configuration development and trade studies.
  • Support products through concept creation, design release, analysis, prototyping, qualification, and production.
  • Maintain requirements, schedules, budgets, and status reporting.
  • Create 3D CAD models, manufacturing drawings, specifications, and technical documentation, and perform first-order strength and sizing calculations.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering.
  • 6+ years of experience in structural system design.
  • Strong 3D CAD design and integration skills; Siemens NX and FiberSim are preferred tools.
  • Experience with industry FEA/FEM tools such as Nastran, ANSYS, FEMAP, or Simcenter.
  • Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and provide technical guidance.
  • Passion for structural engineering.

Nice to have

  • Experience taking hardware from analysis through testing and validating designs through post-test analysis.
  • Familiarity with aerospace structural analysis methods including Bruhn, Niu, and Roark.
  • Knowledge of composite manufacturing methods, material selection, testing, and characterization.
  • Experience with pressurant or propellant tanks, filament-wound structures, or automated fiber placement.
