Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Carlsbad, California, United States. Requires U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Clearance. Up to 10% domestic travel.

Salary: $120,500–$190,000 annually. For specific locations in San Jose, the San Francisco Bay Area, and the New York City metropolitan area: $149,500–$224,500 annually.

What you will do

• Design, document, integrate, and test electronics hardware.
• Develop electronics packaging, cabling, and interfaces for modules.
• Perform thermal analysis down to the component junction level.
• Conduct structural analysis and qualification testing for ruggedized products.
• Manage product development with engineering, configuration management, supply chain, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams.
• Define parts, materials, and interface requirements for environmental and performance conditions.

Requirements

• 5–10 years of mechanical design engineering experience, including electronics packaging, optics integration, and ruggedized products.
• Experience creating 3D parts and assemblies in SolidWorks.
• Experience with thermal analysis software such as Ansys, Thermal Desktop, or SolidWorks Flow Simulation.
• Experience with component-level electronics thermal analysis, requirements derivation, and MIL-STD-810 or similar MIL standards.
• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant engineering discipline.
• U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Clearance are required.

Nice to have

• Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Active U.S. Secret Clearance.
• Additional experience in electronics packaging, optics integration, and thermal analysis of electronic modules.
