What you will do
- Own the design and development of thermal control systems and components for artificial-gravity human-rated space stations.
- Develop components such as heat exchangers, cold plates, heaters, and heat pipes from initial design trades through validation.
- Perform systems engineering tasks, fluid analyses, manufacturing-process iteration, and development testing.
- Own project delivery from early design through production, launch, and orbit insertion.
- Lead internal and external design reviews with suppliers and customers.
- Integrate components with avionics, software, mission operations, and other interdisciplinary systems while ensuring manufacturability and reliability.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or another engineering discipline.
- Experience working with fluid systems or components.
- 5+ years of hands-on hardware experience in fabrication, assembly, and/or testing.
- Experience owning hardware or systems within an integrated engineering team outside an academic setting.
- Knowledge of failure analysis, root-cause investigation, design of experiments, and engineering trade studies.
- Must be a U.S. person under U.S. export-control rules or otherwise eligible for deemed export licensing.
Nice to have
- Experience with rotating machinery and NX.
- Knowledge of GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, and structural analysis using hand calculations, FEMAP, or ANSYS.
- Knowledge of metallic and fluid-system manufacturing, including machining, welding, brazing, and tube bending.
- Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills in a high-pressure engineering environment.
