TL;DR
Senior RF Digital Payload Engineer I (DSP): Developing digital payload products such as modems, processors, and network routers from concept through in-flight operations with an accent on RF engineering, system design, and space-grade board development. Focus on high-speed serial interfaces, DSP algorithms, PCB layout, product qualification, production integration, and anomaly troubleshooting.

Location: Onsite at hirify.global's global headquarters in Long Beach, California, United States

Base salary: $130,000–$170,000 USD per year in California.

What you will do

  • Define product requirements and architect digital payload designs for modems, processors, and network routers.
  • Design and prototype digital products, including component selection, PCB layout, fabrication, and packaging.
  • Take designs through board bring-up, qualification, production, and in-flight operations.
  • Develop test plans, procedures, ground support equipment, production automation, ICDs, and user manuals.
  • Review customer and program requirements, scope development activities, and support PDR, CDR, and TRR engineering reviews.
  • Provide technical support and anomaly troubleshooting while coordinating with test, manufacturing, internal customers, and external customers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or another engineering discipline.
  • At least 5 years of experience in space electronics.
  • Technical expertise in high-speed serial interfaces including SPI, PCIe, and Ethernet, as well as system-on-chip devices, microcontrollers, and digital signal processing.
  • Experience developing and delivering digital products from requirements assessment and engineering prototypes through space-qualified production.
  • Detailed knowledge of DSP algorithms and communication theory.
  • U.S. citizenship is required due to program requirements; U.S. export-control eligibility may also apply.

Nice to have

  • Ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance.
  • Experience with modems, space-grade board design, high-speed digital and mixed-signal circuits, timing analysis, and performance simulation.
  • Experience designing, integrating, and testing communications systems for launch vehicles or satellites.
  • Experience leading complex engineering programs, incident investigations, and project management.
  • Experience developing reusable, maintainable, and scalable code.
