Location: Site-based role requiring work 3+ days (60%+) per week from a office or work location in Carlsbad, California; Seattle, Washington; Tempe, Arizona; or Germantown, Maryland. A valid work permit or visa is required for the country where the employee will be located and working.
Salary: $168,000–$265,000 annually. For specific work locations in San Jose, the San Francisco Bay Area, and the New York City metropolitan area: $209,000–$313,000 annually.

What you will do
- Lead and support a geographically distributed team of engineers and architecture stakeholders.
- Oversee the design, implementation, delivery, and production ownership of onboard connectivity services for commercial aircraft.
- Drive multi-year architectural modernization of the session-management platform.
- Champion automated testing to identify session-management faults before deployment to aircraft.
- Develop observability initiatives, including per-component resource budgets and structured metrics across ground systems.
- Coordinate with cross-functional engineering teams and stakeholders on solution integration and delivery.
Requirements
- 7+ years of hands-on software engineering experience with Go, Python, or Java and systems programming in Linux.
- 2+ years leading a cross-functional software team in an agile/DevOps environment, including distributed time zones.
- Strong networking fundamentals, including DHCP, DNS, NAT, iptables, TCP/IP, and Layer 3/4 networking.
- Experience with distributed systems where state synchronization failures have production SLA consequences.
- Hands-on experience with Linux, systemd, and containerized workloads using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
Nice to have
- Protocol-level networking experience with AMQP/RabbitMQ, HTTP/3, QUIC, RADIUS, or DHCP option encoding.
- Experience building automated integration test frameworks for distributed systems.
- Experience incrementally modernizing legacy stateful systems in production using feature-flagged migration or dual-run approaches.
- Experience with aviation or embedded edge platform constraints, over-the-air software delivery, or regulatory environments.
- CI/CD experience with GitHub Actions or Jenkins, and familiarity with AI-enhanced development workflows.
