TL;DR
RF Systems Engineer I/II (RF Communications): Supporting the development and testing of communication systems for spacecraft and other space programs with an accent on RF requirements, link budget analysis, system design, and qualification of space-worthy products. Focus on defining requirements, developing test plans and ground support equipment, integrating and testing RF systems, and troubleshooting customer and program issues.

Location: Long Beach, California, United States. The role is based at the headquarters and is subject to U.S. space technology export regulations.

Base salary: $85,000–$126,000 USD per year, depending on level, knowledge, skills, education, and experience.

What you will do

  • Define and maintain RF system requirements and support product development decisions.
  • Develop test plans and procedures for communication systems.
  • Support the design and development of ground support equipment and production automation.
  • Create product documentation, including interface control documents and user manuals.
  • Review proposals and requirements, scope development activities, and support PDR, CDR, and TRR engineering reviews.
  • Provide technical support, troubleshoot anomalies, and coordinate system needs with internal and external customers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, RF communications, or another engineering discipline.
  • Fundamental RF knowledge, including link budget analysis and linearity.
  • Theoretical and practical understanding of RF communications, navigation systems, and related components.
  • Experience developing and delivering RF systems, including requirements assessment, engineering-model prototyping, and production of space-worthy products.
  • RF Systems Engineer II candidates need 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to obtain a TS/SCI security clearance and meet U.S. ITAR work-authorization requirements.

Nice to have

  • Existing TS/SCI clearance.
  • Space-grade system design experience.
  • Experience designing, integrating, and testing RF communications systems.
  • Cross-functional teamwork and strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and work additional hours or weekends when required.
