Junior Software Engineer (C/C++)

Location: Reston, Virginia, United States; hybrid work schedule based in the Reston office

Salary: $89,900–$121,700 annual base salary, with potential discretionary bonus and stock awards depending on eligibility.

What you will do

• Design and implement features for horizontally scalable, high-performance DNS resolution products.
• Support software design, development, integration, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
• Take ownership of features from design through delivery in an Agile environment.
• Develop automated tests and CI/CD pipelines while applying software integration and vulnerability management practices.
• Maintain development environments and troubleshoot issues affecting system health and software quality.
• Collaborate with engineers through standups, planning, grooming, code reviews, and technical risk mitigation.

Requirements

• 2+ years of relevant software development experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and object-oriented design.
• Experience with C or C++ development, systems programming, networking and routing protocols, Linux, and Python or a similar scripting language.
• Understanding of CI/CD concepts and tools such as Jenkins, Groovy, and GitHub.
• Experience with or willingness to learn infrastructure automation and platform engineering technologies such as Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, and OpenStack.

Nice to have

• Protocol-level DNS knowledge.
• Experience diagnosing network issues with tools such as tcpdump.
• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
