TL;DR
Principal Electrical Engineer (Force Sensing): Designing and integrating force-sensing hardware, evaluation modules, and prototypes for consumer electronics, automotive, and industrial applications with an accent on analog and mixed-signal circuitry, PCB design, firmware integration, and system characterization. Focus on leading the product lifecycle from proof-of-concept through mass production, debugging sensor systems, and providing multidisciplinary technical support to OEM customers.

Location: San Jose, California, USA; hybrid with 4 days in the office and Friday remote. Up to 10% domestic and international travel, including customer and OEM visits in Asia and Europe.

Salary: $137,000–$225,000 per year.

What you will do

  • Lead schematic design, PCB layout, fabrication documentation, bills of materials, design reviews, component sourcing, and vendor management.
  • Develop proof-of-concept demonstrations, prototypes, customer evaluation kits, sensor modules, and R&D test and evaluation boards.
  • Integrate electrical, mechanical, software, firmware, and algorithm solutions into customer devices from concept through mass production.
  • Perform hardware bring-up, board-level and system-level evaluation, characterization, debugging, competitor analysis, and failure analysis.
  • Work with R&D teams on sensor and system testing, chip verification, and resolution of internal and customer system issues.
  • Provide technical support and training to customers, sales teams, and field application engineers, and create technical documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of relevant electronic design experience spanning proof-of-concept development through mass production.
  • Proficiency with Altium, Cadence, or Siemens for schematic capture and PCB layout, with experience fabricating multiple boards.
  • Hands-on experience with analog or mixed-signal circuits, sensors, embedded systems, firmware, or sensor signal post-processing.
  • Experience with digital interfaces such as I2C, SPI, or UART; C/C++, Python, or similar languages; and laboratory equipment including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and multimeters.
  • Strong technical documentation, communication, presentation, collaboration, customer-support, and time-management skills.

Nice to have

  • Algorithm development experience.
  • Semiconductor or automotive industry experience.
  • Experience with AI/ML tools such as Claude.
