Test Technician II (Environmental)

What you will do

• Operate environmental test equipment, including thermal chambers, thermal-vacuum chambers, vibration tables, and shock tables.
• Set up and tear down equipment for environmental tests and support testing across multiple laboratory areas.
• Document completed work for quality assurance inspection and maintain accurate test records.
• Read and interpret test procedures, schematics, wiring diagrams, specifications, drawings, manuals, and engineering sketches.
• Collaborate with test engineers to troubleshoot failures, analyze test data, and identify process or design improvements.
• Train new environmental test laboratory hires and follow FOD, tool control, 5-S, and safety requirements.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree in a related field is preferred.
• At least 2 years of experience in environmental testing or a similar role.
• Hands-on experience with dynamic and thermal testing in an environmental test laboratory or college laboratory.
• Ability to operate or work with oscilloscopes, multimeters, soldering tools, wire connectors, DC power supplies, torque wrenches, and continuity-testing equipment.
• Ability to interpret and analyze test results, communicate effectively, and maintain accurate documentation.
• Ability to stand for extended periods, lift 10–20 pounds regularly, and lift 50–100 pounds occasionally.

Nice to have

• Experience with SRS shock testing and at least 3 years of vibration testing.
• Associate degree in metrology, instrumentation, physics, mathematics, engineering, technology, or another STEM field.
• Experience with MIL-STD-810G, SMC-S-016, or similar standards.
• Knowledge of LabVIEW, Python, or another high-level general-purpose programming language.
• Experience building test racks and rack enclosures.
