Senior VMware/OpenShift Engineer (West Coast)

Location: Remote - Arizona, US; West Coast, USA. Work aligned with PST or MST time zones.

What you will do

• Install, configure, maintain, and monitor on-premises OpenShift clusters.
• Deploy and operate OpenShift Virtualization on bare metal, including VM workloads running on Kubernetes.
• Manage VMware environments and support conversions and migrations from VMware to OpenShift Virtualization.
• Implement GitOps and CI/CD pipelines for cluster, VM, and application deployment.
• Manage access, permissions, security practices, documentation, and operational procedures.
• Collaborate with development, operations, and security teams to troubleshoot and optimize platform performance.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience with OpenShift Virtualization and KubeVirt, including VM lifecycle management.
• Strong VMware experience with vSphere and ESXi in hybrid environments.
• Production experience with VM migration tools such as MTV or virt-v2v.
• Experience with GitOps tools such as Argo CD or Flux and CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure delivery.
• Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, and Splunk, plus strong networking and storage knowledge.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and cross-team collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Red Hat EX316 or EX280 certification.
• VMware VCP-DCV or VCAP certification.
• Experience with VMware-to-OpenShift Virtualization migration or modernization initiatives.
• Deeper familiarity with KubeVirt architecture and VM lifecycle management on Kubernetes.
