Salary: $95,000–$115,000 per year

What you will do

• Develop and maintain thermal models for spacecraft, systems, and components.
• Define physical properties, environments, and boundary conditions for thermal analyses.
• Select, design, and implement thermal management hardware, including heat pipes, radiators, heaters, thermal coatings, tape, and MLI.
• Define and oversee thermal-cycle, vacuum, flight, and ground testing.
• Analyze test data to correlate models and improve model fidelity.
• Collaborate with design engineers and suppliers, and document analyses, designs, and implementation requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
• At least 1 year of experience developing and maintaining thermal models for spacecraft, systems, or components.
• At least 1 year of experience selecting, designing, and implementing thermal management hardware.
• Ability to perform thermal, flight, and ground testing and analyze test data.
• Creative, self-driven approach with the ability to lead projects through completion.
• Must meet U.S. ITAR eligibility requirements: U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, protected-individual status, or eligibility to obtain the required U.S. Department of State authorizations.

Nice to have

• Graduate work in numerical methods or heat transfer.
• Experience with cryogenic fluids and fluid-analysis software such as STAR-CCM+.
• Experience with Siemens Simcenter, Ansys Thermal, or Thermal Desktop.
• Prior spacecraft, launch vehicle, or satellite development experience.
• Experience in a startup or agile development environment.
