Salary: $91,800β$140,250 per year

What you will do
- Analyze heat transfer, thermal loads, and thermal behavior throughout Mach 3+ flight using thermal analysis software and computational tools.
- Design thermal management systems, including heat shields, thermal protection materials, insulation, and active cooling systems.
- Evaluate high-temperature materials, alloys, and thermal protection solutions for hypersonic environments.
- Analyze and test methods for reducing thermally induced stress and deflections in hot metallic structures.
- Integrate thermal solutions with aerodynamics, propulsion, structures, and materials engineering teams.
- Plan and evaluate laboratory and flight thermal tests, document results, and communicate design recommendations.
Requirements
- Bachelorβs degree in mechanical, aerospace, thermal engineering, or a related field; a masterβs degree is advantageous.
- Proficiency with thermal analysis software and computational tools such as ANSYS, CFD, and Thermal Desktop.
- Experience in thermal engineering, heat transfer analysis, or thermal management systems, preferably in aerospace or high-speed vehicles.
- Strong understanding of aerospace materials, high-temperature alloys, and material behavior under extreme thermal conditions.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Must meet U.S. export control requirements as a U.S. person or be eligible for deemed export licensing.
Nice to have
- Experience with collegiate engineering competition teams such as Formula SAE, Design/Build/Fly, Baja SAE, rocketry, or comparable hands-on organizations.
- Experience working in a fast-paced research and development environment.
