Field Application Engineer/Mechanical (Advanced Electronics)

Location: Based in the U.S. Southeast region from Florida through Virginia and Maryland, with preference for Florida through Virginia; approximately 50% travel to customer sites is required.

What you will do

• Implement mechanical, thermal, electromagnetic, and electrical design solutions for existing, next-generation, and cost-reduction customer programs.
• Work with OEM engineers, manufacturers’ representatives, distribution partners, and territory sales managers.
• Provide technical design support, present modeled and simulated solutions, and maintain customer relationships.
• Drive customer interactions, prototyping, and initial production builds against stakeholder timelines.
• Create and release production documentation with critical dimensions, tolerances, and manufacturing constraints.
• Lead cross-functional product development programs and coordinate internal activities, priorities, and timelines.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a technical field.
• 6–10 years of experience in a similar position, including 3–5 years of component- or subsystem-level design.
• 3–5 years of experience in thermal management, EMI management, or microwave absorbers.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks and/or mechanical, thermal, electrical, or multiphysics software such as Abaqus, HFSS, Icepak, or COMSOL.
• Understanding of finite element analysis or finite difference numerical modeling, including boundary-value problems and results analysis.
• Experience designing and manufacturing electronic devices and systems, presenting technical solutions, and collaborating across customer, commercial, and engineering functions.
