Spacecraft GNC Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Los Angeles, United States. U.S. Person status is required to access export-controlled data. The role includes in-person collaboration at the Playa Vista office.

Salary: $112,000–$180,000 annual base salary, plus equity. Additional benefits are excluded from this range.

What you will do

• Develop and implement GNC algorithms for attitude and orbit determination and control, including precision pointing.
• Analyze spacecraft dynamics and run simulations to evaluate performance, stability, and accuracy.
• Design, develop, and test control systems using reaction wheels, thrusters, magnetic torquers, sensors, and other GNC hardware.
• Define GNC system requirements and integrate hardware and software with spacecraft and payload systems.
• Conduct trade studies involving power consumption, mass, cost, and GNC configuration.
• Develop test plans, validate algorithms and subsystems, analyze telemetry, and resolve GNC anomalies.

Requirements

• U.S. Person status required for access to export-controlled data.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of professional GNC engineering experience, preferably in the satellite or aerospace industry.
• Strong knowledge of spacecraft dynamics, orbital mechanics, and control theory.
• Programming experience with C/C++, MATLAB, and Python, including numerical simulation and analysis.
• Experience with GNC sensors, actuators, control algorithms, MATLAB/Simulink, STK, CCSDS, ECSS, and GPS/GNSS.
