Systems Engineer, Digital Payload (Aerospace)

What you will do

• Own end-to-end digital payload architecture, system performance, requirements, technical budgets, and verification strategy.
• Lead architecture definition and trade studies for FPGA, ASIC, DSP, high-speed I/O, clocking, and payload processing systems.
• Resolve complex system-level problems across hardware, firmware, software, RF, integration, and test teams.
• Drive design decisions for beamforming, channelization, regenerative payloads, and standards-based implementations including DVB-S2, DVB-S2X, DVB-RCS, and 3GPP.
• Develop technical artifacts such as system requirements documents, technical requirements documents, interface specifications, trade studies, and verification plans.
• Lead requirements traceability, lifecycle reviews, system verification and validation, technical risk discussions, and mentoring across multidisciplinary teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of relevant experience in systems engineering, digital payload development, FPGA or ASIC systems, aerospace, space, or mission-critical systems.
• Experience with system-level technical budgets, requirements decomposition and allocation, traceability, verification closure, and full-lifecycle systems engineering.
• Strong knowledge of FPGA and ASIC architecture, DSP, communication systems, high-speed digital interfaces, and payload data paths.
• Proficiency with VHDL, Verilog, SystemVerilog, or equivalent hardware description languages, plus SERDES, transceivers, clocking, synchronization, timing closure, and high-speed link bring-up.
• A valid work permit or visa for the country of employment is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with satellite payload architectures, digital transparent processors, regenerative payloads, or onboard processing systems.
• Knowledge of beamforming, channelizers, modem architectures, waveform processing, packet processing, or high-throughput satellite systems.
• Experience with DVB-S2, DVB-S2X, DVB-RCS, 3GPP, MBSE, requirements management tools, or architectural modeling.
• Background in high-reliability, radiation-tolerant, mission-critical, or space-qualified systems.
• Experience contributing to technical strategy, roadmaps, design standards, or reusable architectures.
