Automation Architect (Python/Bash, Mission Operations): Defining scalable automation architecture for satellite mission operations, ground software, and production systems with an accent on resilient frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and system integrations. Focus on designing event-driven workflows, guiding automation engineers, integrating ML models, and improving mission-critical infrastructure.
Location: Hybrid in Harwell, UK; Athens, Greece; Barcelona, Spain; Porto, Portugal; or Tenerife, Spain. Candidates must have the legal right to work in their chosen location.

What you will do
- Define automation architecture, pipelines, interfaces, and frameworks for satellite mission operations and production environments.
- Establish design principles and standards for scalable, maintainable automation systems.
- Evaluate and integrate automation tools, technologies, and orchestration frameworks.
- Guide Automation Engineers, review code and systems, and lead architectural reviews.
- Collaborate with Mission Control, OpenSat, and OpenApp teams to embed automation into products and platforms.
- Support automated operational workflows, ML model integration, bottleneck identification, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Experience designing and building scalable, resilient automation systems and frameworks.
- Confident use of Python, Bash, or similar scripting languages.
- Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, orchestration tools, and system integrations.
- Understanding of distributed and event-driven systems in mission-critical infrastructure.
- Ability to design maintainable, extensible architectures and guide technical standards.
- Legal right to work in the selected location is required. Applications and CVs must be submitted in English.
