Automation Architect

Location: Hybrid in Harwell, UK; Athens, Greece; Barcelona, Spain; Porto, Portugal; or Tenerife. Candidates must have the legal right to work in their chosen location.

What you will do

• Define the automation architecture for mission operations, including pipelines, interfaces, and frameworks.
• Establish standards and design principles for scalable, maintainable automation across mission control and production systems.
• Evaluate and integrate automation tools, technologies, orchestration frameworks, and system interfaces.
• Guide Automation Engineers, review code and systems, and lead architectural reviews.
• Support the integration of machine learning models into operational workflows and collaborate with Mission Control, satellite, and application teams.
• Identify bottlenecks, improve automated workflows and procedures, and maintain architecture documentation and technical guidelines.

Requirements

• Experience designing and building scalable, resilient automation systems and frameworks for mission operations or production environments.
• Confident use of Python, Bash, or similar scripting languages.
• Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, orchestration tools, and system integrations.
• Understanding of distributed and event-driven systems and data flows across mission-critical infrastructure.
• Systems thinking with the ability to design maintainable, extensible architectures aligned with future mission needs.
• Legal right to work in the selected location and ability to submit the application and CV in English.
