Lead Supply Quality Engineer (Electromechanical Manufacturing)

Location: On-site in Auckland, New Zealand, with regular travel to China for 50% or more of the time

What you will do

• Implement statistical process control for critical manufacturing parts and ensure suppliers include it in their process control plans.
• Lead rapid analysis of production and outgoing-quality failures with design engineers, using risk-mitigating actions to keep shipments and production moving.
• Perform root cause analysis and update quality-control documentation to prevent recurring component failures.
• Audit new suppliers against quality requirements and drive the closure of non-conformances.
• Work closely with contract manufacturers and suppliers across Asia to ensure components are robust enough for farm environments.

Requirements

• 5+ years of quality-management experience in high-volume manufacturing; electromechanical production experience is preferred.
• Proven ability to resolve quality issues rapidly and minimize production disruption.
• Strong first-principles thinking and the ability to identify the most important issues during audits and investigations.
• Experience working with suppliers to achieve context-appropriate quality outcomes.
• High proficiency in written, verbal, and reading English is required.
• Willingness to travel regularly to China, spending 50% or more of the time traveling.

Nice to have

• High proficiency in Mandarin.
• ASQ certification such as CQE or CQA.
• Formal internal auditor certification.
