Technical Lead Manager - Production Engineering

Location: Onsite in Austin, Texas, United States. Travel to deployment sites may be required, up to 25% during active deployments.

What you will do

• Build, lead, and grow a cross-disciplinary Production Engineering team covering software support, site reliability, and hardware configuration.
• Own the engineering last mile by integrating humanoid subsystems into functioning, field-ready robots.
• Lead on-site deployment, bring-up, commissioning, and Factory Acceptance Testing at Robot Park and customer sites.
• Establish reliability standards, tooling, monitoring, observability, and on-call practices for a growing robot fleet.
• Set technical direction for provisioning, configuration management, networking, fleet tooling, and staged deployment rollouts.
• Coordinate deployment schedules, site requirements, hand-offs, and repeatable processes with Commercial, Service & Support, and PMO teams.

Requirements

• Proven technical leadership and experience owning delivery of complex, cross-disciplinary systems.
• Hands-on experience deploying, integrating, and commissioning complex hardware/software systems in the field.
• Strong knowledge of Linux, DDS/UDP/TCP networking, Ansible, C++, and Python.
• Formal people-management experience, including hiring, developing, and directing engineers.
• 8+ years of software or robotics engineering experience, or 4+ years of direct humanoid, manipulation, or teleoperation experience including a lead or ownership role.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Robotics, or equivalent experience.

Nice to have

• Humanoid robotics, manipulation, teleoperation, or warehouse and industrial systems integration experience.
• Experience creating a new team or function, and working with ROS 2, containerization, CI/CD, or fleet-management tooling.
• Field ML/MLOps experience, including model fine-tuning, post-training pipelines, or dispatching training jobs.
• Cloud infrastructure, fleet backend services, TypeScript, Kubernetes, React, CSS, or interface design experience.
