TL;DR
Site Reliability Engineer II, GovCloud (AWS/Kubernetes): Operating and improving Medallia’s highly available, secure US public-sector cloud platform with an accent on AWS GovCloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, networking, PostgreSQL, and Infrastructure-as-Code. Focus on monitoring production systems, responding to incidents, improving observability, and maintaining compliance in a regulated environment.

Location: Hybrid near Tysons, Virginia, with 3 days per week onsite. Must reside in the U.S. and hold U.S. Citizenship or a Green Card.

Annual base salary: $103,000–$155,000.

What you will do

  • Build, operate, and improve highly available cloud infrastructure on AWS GovCloud, including networking, IAM, Kubernetes, DNS, certificates, and shared platform services.
  • Manage AWS VPCs, subnets, routing, security groups, NACLs, VPC endpoints, PrivateLink, and load balancing.
  • Operate production PostgreSQL, including replication, backups, recovery, performance tuning, and upgrades.
  • Monitor production systems, respond to incidents, conduct root-cause analysis, and improve reliability.
  • Maintain Terraform-based Infrastructure-as-Code and Kubernetes deployment workflows using Git, CI/CD, and GitOps.
  • Improve observability, operational runbooks, security patching, and compliance-driven platform maintenance while participating in an on-call rotation.

Requirements

  • Must reside in the U.S. and hold U.S. Citizenship or a Green Card to meet AWS GovCloud compliance requirements.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, platform engineering, DevOps, or related production infrastructure roles.
  • Production experience with AWS or another public cloud, Terraform or comparable IaC tools, Git, CI/CD, Linux, networking, DNS, TLS/certificates, and PostgreSQL or another relational database.
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes, containers, microservices, Python and/or Go, incident management, root-cause analysis, documentation, runbooks, and post-mortems.
  • Experience participating in a production on-call rotation.

Nice to have

  • Experience with FedRAMP, AWS GovCloud, FIPS, vulnerability management, or other regulated cloud environments.
  • Deep PostgreSQL operational expertise, plus familiarity with Redis and Kafka.
  • Experience supporting federal agencies or public-sector customers.
  • Experience with observability platforms, Jenkins, Argo CD, or GitHub Enterprise.
