TL;DR
Physicians - Accounts Receivable Associate Specialist (Medical Revenue Cycle): Resolving denied, underpaid, and unpaid healthcare claims by communicating with commercial and governmental payers, submitting technical and clinical appeals, and securing timely reimbursement with an accent on claims analysis, payer requirements, and regulatory compliance. Focus on identifying root causes of denials and payment delays, documenting account activity, and applying critical thinking to complex medical accounts.

Location: Remote across the United States; travel to and work onsite at client, temporary, or corporate office locations may be required as business needs require.

Salary: $17.00–$18.65 per hour, based on experience.

What you will do

  • Examine denied and non-paid claims to determine discrepancies and causes of payment delays.
  • Communicate with commercial, governmental, and other payers about outstanding claims.
  • Prepare and submit technical and clinical appeals and resolve payment variances.
  • Analyze denial, no-response, and audit activity and identify root causes in accounts receivable.
  • Document payer contacts, claim activity, and resolution details in client and tracking systems.
  • Share trends and recommendations with management while meeting quality, productivity, and attendance standards.

Requirements

  • Basic computer knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong verbal communication, problem-solving, critical-thinking, and account-collection planning skills.
  • Ability to understand and apply payer requirements, federal and state regulations, and payment tools.
  • Adaptability to changing procedures and openness to innovation, including AI-based process improvements.
  • Ability to work remotely in the United States and travel to onsite locations when required.
  • Ability to meet established quality, productivity, and attendance requirements.

Nice to have

  • Two- or four-year college degree.
  • At least one year of relevant experience in medical collections, physician or hospital operations, accounts receivable follow-up, denials and appeals, compliance, provider relations, or professional billing.
  • Knowledge of claims review, revenue cycle management, medical terminology, and insurance claim terminology.
  • Experience with the DDE Medicare system and payer websites.
