Team Lead - Data Engineering (Python)

Location: Auckland, New Zealand. For New Zealand roles, eligibility to access equipment and data regulated by ITAR is required; nationality checks and background checks will be conducted before an offer.

What you will do

• Lead a high-performing team of software engineers.
• Oversee end-to-end development across infrastructure, storage, ingestion, and presentation of operational and engineering data.
• Guide the design, development, testing, and documentation of software for launch operations, integrated systems testing, simulations, and ground systems.
• Set technical direction for architecture, code quality, coding standards, and agile engineering practices.
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, and mission teams to improve data capabilities and mission readiness.
• Support deployment, user training, team ceremonies, prioritisation, and stakeholder alignment.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience.
• Proven team leadership or mentoring experience is essential.
• Strong Python development skills.
• Experience with data platform architecture and data management.
• Experience with REST APIs, databases, Git, and modern software development workflows.
• Familiarity with Spark, Pandas/NumPy, ETL processes, or similar tools.

Nice to have

• Agile/Scrum experience.
• Data visualisation or analytics experience.
• Kubernetes experience.
• Experience with C#, Golang, TypeScript, web, networked, database, or UI application development.
