Senior Propulsion Development Engineer (Thrusters)

Location: Redondo Beach, United States; onsite. Flexible schedule and willingness to travel as needed are required. Applicants must be U.S. Persons or eligible to obtain a U.S. export license.

Salary: $135,000–$155,000 per year, plus potential stock options.

What you will do

• Own the design, analysis, implementation, and operation of storable liquid bipropellant thrusters and subsystems.
• Conduct performance analysis and hardware testing, including engine hotfire tests.
• Plan and execute propulsion development tests.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and operations teams to deliver reliable, integrated propulsion systems.
• Resolve technical issues and develop resourceful engineering solutions.
• Lead technical projects or a small team of engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science.
• 5+ years of experience in aerospace propulsion.
• Hands-on experience with bipropellant rocket engines, combustion devices, and testing.
• Knowledge of fluids, thermodynamics, heat transfer, mechanics, and materials.
• Ability to perform thermal-fluid system trades and materials selection.
• Experience with fluid, mechanical, electrical, and controls systems, plus demonstrated project ownership and collaboration.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a comparable field.
• Experience in a fast-paced startup environment and technical leadership of propulsion programs.
• Experience with ignition systems, nitrous oxide propellant, CAD software, and aerospace structural analysis standards.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
