Senior Antenna and RF Payload Engineer (SATCOM)

Location: Hybrid in Harwell, UK; Athens, Greece; Barcelona, Spain; or Porto, Portugal. Legal right to work in the chosen location is required.

What you will do

• Lead antenna and RF payload design across phased arrays, reflectors, and beamforming systems.
• Define electromagnetic simulations and optimise antenna and RF performance, beam steering, coverage, and spectral compliance.
• Specify RF modules and payload subsystem interfaces while governing frequency planning, signal integrity, and linearity.
• Perform cascade analysis, radiometric modelling, and Power Flux Density analysis to optimise link performance and support regulatory compliance.
• Lead prototyping and hardware validation, including OTA testing, anechoic chamber measurements, and engineering model development.
• Define and oversee qualification activities including vibration, thermal-vacuum, and radiation testing.

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of antenna theory and RF system design, including phased arrays, reflectors, and beamforming.
• Experience with electromagnetic modelling and simulation tools such as CST, HFSS, ADS, or similar.
• Knowledge of antenna performance metrics, RF front-end architectures, frequency planning, signal integrity, and linearity.
• Capability in cascade analysis for gain, noise figure, and G/T optimisation.
• Understanding of radiometric analysis, PFD modelling, satellite communications standards, and regulatory frameworks including DVB-S2X, 5G NTN, and ITU constraints.
• Legal right to work in the selected location is required; CV must be submitted in English.
