Backend Software Engineer - Infrastructure

What you will do

• Build performant search and indexing systems for granularly permissioned data.
• Develop distributed systems for large-scale compute workloads, including scheduling hundreds of thousands of containers per hour.
• Design infrastructure architecture and opinionated APIs that simplify application development.
• Build reliable systems for storage, authentication, asset serving, and other foundational capabilities.
• Improve tracing, performance observability, deployment, and operations across distributed microservice environments.
• Contribute to open-source data-processing libraries and work directly with customers through the optional Frontline program.

Requirements

• Background in Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Physics, or a similar field.
• Strong coding skills in Java, C++, Python, Rust, or similar languages.
• Familiarity with storage and data-processing systems, cloud infrastructure, and related technical tools.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate and iterate quickly.
• Active UK Security clearance or eligibility and willingness to obtain it is beneficial but not required.

Nice to have

• Experience developing and managing highly available distributed systems.
• Active UK Security clearance or eligibility and willingness to obtain UK Security clearance.
