TL;DR

Focus on preparing work papers and financial statements, reconciling bank activity, supporting audits, and coordinating with clients, auditors, legal counsel, and tax advisors under strict deadlines.

Location: Chicago, Illinois, United States; hybrid

Salary: $50,000–$100,000 USD per year, plus potential discretionary bonus and/or equity awards.

What you will do

  • Deliver accurate and timely fund accounting work for private equity and real asset clients.
  • Prepare work papers covering capital activity, income and expense accruals, investment activity, and supporting schedules.
  • Update carried-interest distribution waterfall models and calculate management fees.
  • Review transaction documentation and understand investment structures, accruals, and related accounting requirements.
  • Perform bank reconciliations, process journal entries, and support year-end audits.
  • Coordinate with clients, counterparties, legal counsel, auditors, tax advisors, and internal teams to meet deadlines.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of accounting experience, ideally with alternative investment funds, private equity, or real assets.
  • Knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), comprehensive accounting concepts, and investment partnerships.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing general ledgers, work papers, and financial statements.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a deadline-driven environment.
