Backend Engineer (DataCosmos) (Go/Python): Building and scaling backend services, APIs, and cloud-native infrastructure for a geospatial platform delivering satellite data to customers worldwide with an accent on distributed systems, performance, observability, and reliability. Focus on designing microservices, improving CI/CD and deployment strategies, and supporting production systems for real-world space missions.
Location: Hybrid in Harwell, UK; Athens, Greece; Barcelona, Spain; Porto, Portugal; or Buenos Aires, Argentina. The role can be based in the listed global locations, subject to having the legal right to work in the chosen location.

What you will do
- Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs for the DataCosmos geospatial data platform.
- Develop clean and reliable code in Go and/or Python.
- Improve platform performance, scalability, observability, and reliability.
- Work with cloud-native technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, deployment strategies, and infrastructure improvements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, support production systems, and deliver solutions for space missions.
Requirements
- Strong backend engineering experience with Go, Python, or similar languages.
- Experience with APIs, microservices, distributed systems, and scalable architectures.
- Good understanding of PostgreSQL and data modelling principles.
- Familiarity with cloud environments, containerisation, and DevOps practices.
- Legal right to work in the chosen employment location.
- CV submitted in English.
