Neutronics Analysis Engineer (Nuclear Energy)

Location: Santa Clara, California, or remote within the United States. Remote employees must travel to headquarters twice a quarter based on business or team needs, and must work in person at headquarters during the first two weeks of onboarding.

Salary: $102,000–$225,000 per year, depending on experience.

What you will do

• Define, develop, and execute in-core and ex-core neutronics analyses supporting reactor design, performance evaluation, and safety assurance.
• Perform core design and fuel-cycle analyses using Monte Carlo and deterministic codes for hirify.global reactors.
• Use Serpent, MCNP, SCALE, OpenMC, DIF3D, and PERSENT for neutronics calculations.
• Support verification, validation, experiments, and benchmark analyses.
• Provide technical feedback to rapidly iterating design teams and contribute to licensing and regulatory interactions.
• Document analyses and prepare clear, technically sound reports.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in a technical field such as nuclear engineering, with experience in reactor design and analysis.
• Fluency with Python and experience with modern object-oriented languages, preferably C++.
• Proficiency with high-performance computing systems.
• Experience with fast reactor design and analysis is highly recommended.
• Proficiency with MCNP and Serpent is highly recommended; experience with SCALE and Argonne ARC codes is recommended.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced startup environment.
