Demand Planning Data Scientist Lead

Location: Malaysia, Penang; remote work is available.

What you will do

• Lead the development and implementation of statistical and machine-learning models for product-order demand forecasting across multiple geographies.
• Partner with demand planners to analyze forecast accuracy, bias, value add, and deviations in Integrated Business Planning.
• Design experiments, validate model performance, and prepare statistical models for production use.
• Analyze large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights that support inventory, supply, and business planning decisions.
• Recommend data collection, integration, and retention strategies in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
• Communicate analytical gains, findings, and recommendations to commercial, finance, global operations, and management stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in data science, statistics, computer science, or a related field.
• Typically 10+ years of experience in data science or equivalent work experience.
• Extensive knowledge of predictive modeling, machine learning, and statistical analysis.
• Proficiency in Python, R, or SQL, plus experience with Tableau, Power BI, Qlik, Spotfire, or similar visualization tools.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, leadership, and executive presence skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to have

• Experience in commercial business planning and forecasting.
• Familiarity with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Knowledge of advanced machine-learning techniques and frameworks.
