Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (AI)

Location: Hybrid in Waterloo, Toronto, or Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

What you will do

• Architect and build reusable test frameworks, libraries, SDKs, and validation tools shared across engineering teams.
• Improve product testability, instrumentation, observability, and maintainability through software engineering practices.
• Engineer end-to-end CI/CD pipelines, including build orchestration, deployment automation, and infrastructure-as-code for test environments.
• Validate deployments across multiple cloud environments and contribute to cloud test strategies.
• Review test automation code and define an automation roadmap aligned with product evolution.
• Mentor SDETs and software engineers on quality engineering practices and collaborate closely with development and product teams.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software development experience in quality engineering, with a strong focus on cloud automation.
• Strong programming skills in at least one language such as Python, C#, or Java.
• Experience building production-quality automation frameworks, testing libraries, or developer tools from scratch.
• Knowledge of object-oriented design, design patterns, clean code, Git, code reviews, software architecture, and system design.
• Hands-on experience with APIs, SDKs, system integration testing, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-based testing environments.
• Experience or strong interest in AI-powered development workflows, along with strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Testing LLM-powered applications and agentic systems.
• Infrastructure-as-code with CDK, Terraform, or CloudFormation.
• Distributed systems, cloud architecture, observability, monitoring, and alerting tools such as Grafana, Datadog, or CloudWatch.
• BDD, contract testing with Pact, security testing, performance testing, regression strategies, or Docker.
• AWS services including S3, DynamoDB, or OpenSearch.
