Satcom Mission Analysis Engineer (SATCOM)

Location: Hybrid in Harwell, UK; Athens, Greece; Barcelona, Spain; or Porto, Portugal. Candidates must have the legal right to work in their chosen location.

What you will do

• Define, optimise, and maintain the orbital architecture of satellite constellations throughout their lifecycle.
• Analyse constellation topology, orbital shells, coverage, revisit times, visibility windows, elevation angles, and line-of-sight durations.
• Model inter-satellite link dynamics, including pointing, acquisition, tracking, slew rates, perturbations, slant range, and Doppler shift.
• Design manoeuvre strategies and Delta-V budgets for orbit insertion, station-keeping, collision avoidance, and end-of-life de-orbiting.
• Integrate astrodynamics models into routing simulators and the broader Digital Twin, collaborating with System Architecture, RF, Waveform, and Network Routing teams.
• Ensure orbital lifecycle strategies comply with space debris mitigation guidelines and ITU regulatory milestones.

Requirements

• Strong understanding of orbital mechanics, constellation design, phasing strategies, and orbital perturbations.
• Experience modelling satellite constellations, topology evolution, multi-orbit integration, and coverage across diverse environments.
• Proficiency with Orekit and STK, including custom models and automation scripts.
• Knowledge of inter-satellite link dynamics, telecommunications performance metrics, collision avoidance, and space situational awareness.
• Experience integrating astrodynamics models into system simulations or digital twin environments.
• Legal right to work in the selected UK, Greek, Spanish, or Portuguese location; CV must be submitted in English.
