Senior Data Scientist (Solar)

What you will do

• Develop machine learning models to detect underperformance, faults, and anomalies in photovoltaic and storage system time-series data.
• Build diagnostic logic to identify root causes such as soiling, shading, inverter clipping, outages, communication gaps, sensor drift, and degradation.
• Own the full data science lifecycle from problem definition and prototyping through validation, deployment, monitoring, and retraining.
• Partner with engineering to integrate models into the Resolv platform and generate prioritized dispatch recommendations.
• Measure field impact, including avoided truck rolls and faster issue resolution, and use operational feedback to improve models.
• Explore new modeling approaches and contribute to the detection and diagnostics roadmap.

Requirements

• MS in a quantitative field or equivalent experience and 6+ years of applied data science experience.
• Hands-on experience with time-series methods, including anomaly detection, forecasting, seasonal decomposition, and state-space models.
• Production ML experience with model deployment, monitoring, and retraining pipelines.
• Proficiency in Python, pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, and SQL, plus experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Experience with noisy, irregularly sampled, multi-sensor data at scale and end-to-end modeling projects.
• Experience mentoring data scientists or engineers and making architecture and tooling decisions for production ML systems on a major cloud platform.

Nice to have

• Experience with GenAI, Claude Code, or LLMs in operational workflows.
• Solar performance modeling, pvlib, PVsyst, irradiance or weather datasets, inverter, SCADA, or industrial IoT data.
• Experience with Databricks, MLflow, ML orchestration, probabilistic forecasting, failure prediction, ranking, or dispatch optimization.
