Linux Administrator (Classified Systems) – Active Secret Clearance Required

Location: Carlsbad, California, United States. US citizenship and an active United States Secret Security Clearance are required.

Salary: $121,000–$191,000 annually. For specific work locations in San Jose, the San Francisco Bay Area, and the New York City metropolitan area: $150,000–$225,000 annually.

What you will do

• Configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and secure Linux-based solutions and classified systems.
• Perform system hardening and vulnerability management in alignment with DISA STIGs, NIST 800-53, and other security standards.
• Monitor cybersecurity events, respond to incidents, and analyze Linux environments.
• Maintain security documentation, change-control logs, and Plans of Action and Milestones.
• Support virtualized infrastructure, including VMware, Hyper-V, and OpenShift, as well as NetApp centralized storage and backup services.
• Collaborate with DevOps teams, conduct site self-assessments, and provide technical guidance to team members.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
• 6+ years of Linux administration experience with systems such as RHEL or Ubuntu, including a strong cybersecurity focus.
• 4+ years of experience in DoD or industrial security programs and RMF processes.
• 2+ years of experience implementing and managing VMware, Hyper-V, or OpenShift infrastructure.
• Experience administering Trellix ePO, Active Directory or IdAM, GPOs, logging, monitoring, DNS, DHCP, NetApp, and Veeam.
• DoD 8140.01 certification, active Secret Security Clearance, and US citizenship are required. Ability to lift equipment up to 40 pounds and work in controlled environments is also required.

Nice to have

• Container creation and deployment experience with Docker or LXD.
• Experience with Ansible, Puppet, Splunk, scripting, infrastructure as code, or software deployment automation.
• Experience supporting cross-domain solutions and secure enclaves.
• RHCE, RHCSA, LFCS, or equivalent certification.
• Experience with AI-enabled automation, self-hosted LLMs, RAG, or AI-assisted development in enterprise or air-gapped environments.
