Research Scientist

Location: Primarily remote with periodic travel for customer engagements, experimentation events, demonstrations, conferences, testing activities, and team collaboration. US citizenship is required.

What you will do

• Conduct applied research, experimentation, technical analysis, modeling, and prototype development for Department of War technology and capability development efforts.
• Design and execute research studies, technical evaluations, proof-of-concept demonstrations, and technology assessments.
• Collaborate with scientists, engineers, software developers, military subject matter experts, and government stakeholders on mission-focused solutions.
• Develop research methodologies, test plans, evaluation criteria, technical recommendations, and technology roadmaps.
• Prepare and present research reports, white papers, technical briefings, sponsor presentations, and R&D proposals.
• Support technology maturation, transition activities, and experimentation across customer-funded R&D and internal R&D initiatives.

Requirements

• US citizenship required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of War SECRET Security Clearance required.
• Master’s degree in a relevant technical field with 3–7 years of experience, or a PhD with up to 3 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in research, technical analysis, experimentation, modeling, prototyping, or technology development in areas such as AI/ML, data science, knowledge graphs, cybersecurity, GIS, digital engineering, human performance, or modeling and simulation.
• Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages, including Python, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, C++, C#, or Go.
• Experience developing software applications, APIs, services, or distributed systems, with knowledge of software engineering, design patterns, and secure coding practices.

Nice to have

• Active TOP SECRET clearance.
• Experience with Department of War, Intelligence Community, or Federal Government R&D programs.
• Experience with SBIR/STTR, OTA, rapid prototyping, experimentation, or advanced technology development efforts.
• Experience with cloud environments, data platforms, classified environments, technical publications, patents, funded research, or technology transition.
