What you will do
- Build and lead the Digital Trust function in Japan, initially as an autonomous individual contributor and later by developing a dedicated team.
- Own privacy and security policies aligned with Japan's Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI) and global standards.
- Lead the Privacy Information Management System (PIMS) lifecycle and Privacy Mark certification, including documentation, audits, and remediation.
- Conduct privacy reviews and impact assessments across products and operations, and manage privacy and security incidents through assessment, reporting, and remediation.
- Coordinate with regional teams in Korea and Taiwan to localize privacy and security programs.
- Represent the organization with regulators, government bodies, and policy stakeholders in Japan.
Requirements
- More than 5 years of experience in privacy or security compliance, including leadership of large-scale, cross-functional solutions.
- Strong knowledge of Japanese privacy and security regulations, including APPI.
- Experience with privacy reviews and incident management.
- Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Fluent-level Japanese and business-level English.
Nice to have
- Security or privacy certifications, such as CIPP, CIPM, CIPT, or relevant Japanese certifications.
- Experience engaging with government bodies or regulators on privacy and security matters.
- Technical understanding of data protection and defensive security engineering.
- Background in e-commerce or cross-border environments.
