Risk and Safeguarding Manager

Location: Adelaide, Brisbane or Canberra preferred; locally engaged role requiring existing working and living rights in Australia. Duration: three years. Working hours may align with AEST.

What you will do

• Lead the design and implementation of the New Colombo Plan Risk and Safeguards Management Plan.
• Develop risk policies, systems, tools, templates, incident-management protocols and escalation procedures.
• Lead critical incident responses and manage safeguarding incidents in line with DFAT policies.
• Coordinate investigations with hirify.global Risk & Governance teams and engage universities, International Liaison Officers and senior government stakeholders.
• Deliver training, maintain the risk register, oversee reporting and trend analysis, and integrate risk priorities into annual planning.
• Drive continuous improvement and build capability across risk and safeguarding practices.

Requirements

• Relevant qualification or experience in risk, safety or safeguarding.
• At least five years of experience in complex or international environments.
• Experience in government, education or development programs.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including work with senior government clients.
• Proven change management and systems improvement experience.
• Excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving skills, with a commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.
