Intern - TX Station (News Media)

Location: Onsite at the NBC Dallas/Fort Worth station in Fort Worth, Texas, United States.

What you will do

• Support newsroom activities across reporting, producing, assignment-desk operations, and social video production.
• Participate in daily planning meetings and contribute ideas for news programming and digital content.
• Monitor websites, mainstream media, and social media to identify news, sources, leads, trends, and competitive intelligence.
• Write assigned news segments and website articles using AP Style, and coordinate with reporters, meteorologists, and other newsroom staff.
• Help coordinate guests, maintain current and future assignments, and handle newsroom phone communications.
• Edit video from newscasts, add metadata, and publish content to social media and the station website or app.

Requirements

• Be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution throughout the internship and provide documentation of degree progress.
• Be a sophomore or above with at least 30 credits.
• Be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship from hirify.global.
• Be willing to work onsite at the Fort Worth, Texas station.
• Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, creative, organizational, project management, and presentation skills.
• Have an interest in television, streaming, or digital media and knowledge of AP Style and newswriting.

Nice to have

• Major in Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
• Familiarity with Premiere and Photoshop.
• Experience with TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, or WordPress.
• Bilingual Spanish and English skills.
