Director, Engineering - Detection Platform (AI)

Salary: $280,000–$350,000 USD per year, plus equity and possible variable compensation

What you will do

• Lead a multi-team engineering organization responsible for alerting, event management, monitor creation experiences, and autonomous detection.
• Define and execute the technical and organizational strategy for the Detection Platform.
• Align Engineering, Product Management, Design, and Applied Science stakeholders.
• Drive AI-powered detection, anomaly identification, and signal generation capabilities.
• Scale highly available platform systems processing hundreds of millions of evaluations while maintaining reliability and performance.
• Develop engineering managers and technical leaders while balancing platform investments with intuitive user experiences and customer outcomes.

Requirements

• Significant experience leading engineering organizations building large-scale platforms, infrastructure, observability, monitoring, or developer-facing products.
• Deep technical expertise combined with strong product judgment and architectural decision-making skills.
• Experience leading engineering managers and technical leaders across multiple teams and domains.
• A track record of defining long-term technical vision, aligning organizations, and delivering complex initiatives.
• Experience with machine learning, AI-enabled products, intelligent automation, or large-scale detection systems.
• Strong communication, stakeholder influence, and ambiguity-navigation skills.
