TL;DR
Staff Scientist, Assay R&D (Molecular Biology): Designing and executing complex experiments and developing novel methodologies for assay research and development with an accent on molecular biology, protein chemistry, and advanced laboratory techniques. Focus on leading experimental programs, interpreting scientific data, mentoring scientists, and ensuring compliance with laboratory safety and regulatory standards.

Location: On-site full-time, 5 days per week in Durham, North Carolina, United States

What you will do

  • Lead the design and execution of complex experiments supporting research and development objectives.
  • Develop and implement novel experimental methods, technologies, and workflows.
  • Analyze, interpret, and present scientific data to influence project and program decisions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and contribute to technical reports, publications, and presentations.
  • Mentor junior scientists and technical staff while serving as a subject matter expert.
  • Monitor emerging technologies and support laboratory safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • PhD in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or a related discipline with 5+ years of relevant experience; or a Master's degree with 8+ years; or a Bachelor's degree with 12+ years.
  • Expertise in molecular biology, protein chemistry, or related experimental disciplines.
  • Experience leading complex experimental programs and delivering scientific results.
  • Scientific contributions through publications, patents, or project leadership.
  • Proficiency with advanced laboratory techniques, instrumentation, and data analysis tools.
  • Knowledge of applicable regulatory standards, including GMP quality systems, clinical laboratory regulations, and regulated medical device operations.
