What you will do
- Develop, optimize, characterize, verify, and validate clinical-grade NGS assays for DNA, including genome-wide and targeted approaches.
- Lead experimental strategy, design, planning, execution, timelines, data analysis, documentation, and scientific presentations.
- Troubleshoot complex technical challenges, identify root causes, and improve assay performance and laboratory workflows.
- Plan projects, define milestones, mitigate risks, and adapt priorities to evolving program needs.
- Collaborate with computational scientists, engineers, and clinical laboratory teams to transfer protocols into automated, high-throughput clinical production.
- Document product development requirements and author study protocols, reports, and SOPs in accordance with cGLP and cGDP.
Requirements
- PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, or a related field with at least 4 years of life-sciences experience, or a bachelor's or master's degree with at least 10 years of professional experience.
- Experience designing and leading verification and validation studies for IVD assays in a regulated clinical laboratory environment.
- Extensive hands-on experience developing automated NGS assays, including extraction, library preparation, target capture, sequencing, automated platforms, and liquid handlers.
- Experience with nucleic-acid extraction and purification, amplification, quantification, PCR, qPCR, Qubit, Fragment Analyzer, TapeStation, and ctDNA/cfDNA workflows.
- Ability to independently design and execute experiments, analyze data, present scientific results, troubleshoot investigations, and maintain detailed records.
- Strong written and verbal communication, cross-functional collaboration, adaptability, and experience mentoring scientists and research associates.
Nice to have
- Experience working with methylated ctDNA/cfDNA in NGS workflows.
- Familiarity with Python or R and experience contributing to publications, patents, or other scientific innovations.
