Research Associate I (Molecular Diagnostics)

What you will do

• Support development, optimization, verification, and transfer of NGS-based minimal residual disease assays.
• Execute laboratory experiments and routine testing according to protocols, SOPs, and study plans.
• Prepare, process, and characterize clinical and contrived samples for assay development and validation studies.
• Perform nucleic acid extraction, quantification, library preparation, PCR, and NGS-related workflows.
• Document experimental procedures, observations, and results in laboratory notebooks and electronic systems.
• Support assay troubleshooting, process improvement, qualification, validation, and cross-functional project activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Biology, Biotechnology, or a related scientific discipline.
• 0–2 years of laboratory experience in an academic, biotechnology, diagnostics, or regulated laboratory environment.
• Hands-on experience with basic molecular biology techniques, including nucleic acid extraction, PCR, qPCR, quantification, or sample preparation.
• Experience maintaining accurate laboratory records and following established procedures and protocols.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and basic data analysis tools.
• Ability to work onsite at the South San Francisco office.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with NGS workflows and genomic technologies.
• Experience with blood, plasma, tissue, or FFPE clinical specimens.
• Exposure to CAP/CLIA, design control, or other regulated laboratory quality systems.
• Interest in oncology diagnostics, liquid biopsy, ctDNA, or MRD technologies.
