Senior Backend Engineer (AdTech)

Location: Hybrid in Petah Tikva, Israel; only candidates local to the posting location will be considered.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and deliver scalable, highly available backend services for a real-time ad exchange.
• Architect core systems and plan large-scale changes and migrations for long-term maintainability.
• Profile and optimize performance for ultra-low latency and high throughput under massive concurrent loads.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, conduct code reviews, and establish engineering standards.
• Own services in production by implementing monitoring, alerting, and observability and resolving complex incidents.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Data Scientists, engineering squads, and DevOps on technical solutions, deployment pipelines, Kubernetes, and GCP infrastructure.

Requirements

• 5+ years of backend software development experience focused on large-scale distributed systems.
• Expertise in at least one statically typed backend language: Scala, Java, Kotlin, Go, Rust, or C++.
• Experience building and maintaining high-throughput, low-latency, real-time systems.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, microservices, design patterns, and object-oriented and/or functional programming.
• Hands-on experience scaling relational and NoSQL databases, including SQL, Redis, Cassandra, Aerospike, or Elasticsearch.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and a major cloud environment such as AWS, GCP, or Azure; B.Sc. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical or military experience.

Nice to have

• Ad-tech experience, particularly with an ad exchange, DSP, or SSP.
• Knowledge of reactive programming or advanced concurrency models.
• Experience with Kafka, Flink, or Spark.
