Senior Hardware Test Engineer (IoT Hardware)

What you will do

• Own the hardware test automation strategy and overarching test infrastructure, likely using Python or TestStand.
• Design and execute environmental, reliability, verification, and validation tests for electromechanical subsystems and complete product assemblies, including HALT, UV exposure, tumble, impact, thermal cycling, and ingress testing.
• Manage tests end to end, from interpreting product requirements and writing test plans to execution, analysis, and delivery of pass/fail evidence.
• Design and build bespoke test rigs, fixtures, instrumentation, and automation to improve testing speed, repeatability, and reproducibility.
• Integrate and maintain environmental chambers, DAQ systems, RF systems, and other equipment while maintaining calibration standards.
• Partner with Reliability Engineering, Hardware Design, Firmware, and Production to embed robust testing early in product development.

Requirements

• Significant experience in hardware test engineering or validation in a high-reliability environment such as IoT, ruggedised consumer electronics, automotive, aerospace, industrial, or robotics.
• Strong experience building scalable automated test infrastructure and conducting environmental, accelerated life, and reliability stress testing.
• Proven ability to design and build bespoke test jigs, fixtures, instrumentation, DAQ systems, and automation.
• Experience with calibration discipline, data analysis, automated reporting, and drawing clear conclusions from test results.
• Ability to take end-to-end ownership, communicate findings clearly, and collaborate effectively across engineering functions.
