Senior Android Software Engineer (AdTech)

Location: United States, Durham; hybrid work environment. Only candidates local to the posting location will be considered.

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain high-performance Android SDKs and on-device services focused on reliability, footprint, battery usage, and security.
• Improve package-manager reliability, dynamic app delivery, installation success rates, and recovery paths across fragmented devices and operating systems.
• Partner with OEM and carrier integration teams to deliver features within platform, privacy, and resource constraints.
• Extend on-device capabilities for alternative app distribution and brand-on-device experiences.
• Own the full production lifecycle, including instrumentation, alerting, staged rollouts, A/B experiments, monitoring, and on-call support.
• Improve code quality through reviews, automated testing, tooling, and mentoring on mobile engineering practices.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building production mobile software.
• Deep Android expertise with Kotlin or Java and working knowledge of native internals.
• Strong understanding of asynchronous programming, concurrency, memory and battery profiling, data structures, and mobile design patterns.
• Experience shipping SDKs, libraries, or framework-level code consumed by other developers.
• Experience operating production software at scale, including monitoring, debugging field issues, and staged rollouts.
• Ability to work autonomously in an outcome-oriented engineering team.

Nice to have

• iOS development experience with Swift or Objective-C.
• Experience with AdTech, mobile measurement and attribution, or on-device ML inference.
• Familiarity with OEM and carrier pre-load constraints, Android system apps, or device-management contexts.
• Exposure to alternative app stores or in-app purchase and payment flows.
