Mobile Software Engineer - Android (Fintech)

Location: Hybrid (London), with at least two days per week or 40% of working time at an office site

Salary: £76,760–£95,950 per year

What you will do

• Design, build, and deliver secure, scalable, and high-performing Android applications.
• Develop consumer-facing mobile features using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.
• Collaborate with designers, product managers, and backend engineers in a cross-functional Agile team.
• Monitor application performance, debug production issues, and continuously improve the mobile experience.
• Promote engineering best practices, improve development processes, and mentor fellow engineers.

Requirements

• Proven experience developing and shipping Android applications to the Google Play Store.
• Strong experience with Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Android architecture, design patterns, and SOLID principles.
• Experience with Clean Architecture, object-oriented programming, Android lifecycle management, and multi-module applications.
• Deep knowledge of Android components, including Activities, Fragments, Services, Content Providers, and Broadcast Receivers.
• Experience monitoring performance, debugging production issues, and writing unit, integration, and UI tests.
• Experience working in Agile or Scrum environments and collaborating across product and engineering disciplines.

Nice to have

• Experience with Android CI/CD pipelines, release automation, and third-party Android libraries and services.
• Experience shaping mobile-friendly backend services and optimizing application performance at scale.
• Background in fintech or consumer technology.
• Experience building new features and services from scratch in ambiguous environments.
