Genealogist Research, Heir Research

Location: Draper, Utah, United States. Location-flexible work may be performed from an eligible US office, home, or through a hybrid arrangement, subject to role and location restrictions.

Base salary: $51,400–$65,000 per year, with eligibility for bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits.

What you will do

• Conduct expert US genealogical research from the 19th through 21st centuries, including probate, legal, heir, and people-finding research.
• Assess source accessibility and research feasibility, locate records, and communicate promptly when research cannot proceed.
• Prepare research logs, reports, citations, abstracts, affidavits, research plans, and regular client updates.
• Apply sound judgment to meet company, industry, client, quality, and budget standards.
• Maintain an average of six billable hours per day and meet annual billable-hour targets.
• Collaborate with Research Managers, provide and receive feedback, and support project success.

Requirements

• At least five years of professional genealogical research experience, or a combination of five years of educational and professional experience.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in History, Family History, English, or comparable experience.
• Required specialized expertise in US genealogical research, with a focus on heir research, forensic genealogy, modern genealogy, people finding, or skip tracing.
• Advanced knowledge of brick-wall research methodologies and evidence analysis.
• Experience ordering and analyzing records from physical and digital repositories.
• Experience managing multiple projects, conducting genealogical interviews, writing narrative reports, and researching within budget.
