Sr. Functional Safety Engineer (Automotive)

What you will do

• Support ISO 26262 activities throughout the development lifecycle, including safety planning, hazard analysis, safety concepts, and requirements development.
• Work with systems, hardware, and software engineering to define, trace, implement, and verify functional safety requirements.
• Engage with customers during request-for-quotation activities, requirements reviews, and resolution of functional safety concerns.
• Develop and maintain safety plans, manuals, concepts, ASIL ratings and decomposition, DIA, HARA, safety requirements, FMEA, FTA, safety cases, and confirmation measures.
• Support process consistency, continuous improvement, issue resolution, and functional safety training across teams.
• Travel to domestic and international stakeholder meetings as required, approximately 10%.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Automotive, Electrical, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
• 7–10 years of experience implementing ISO 26262; powertrain and electric vehicle applications are preferred.
• Expertise in safety concepts, hazard analysis and risk assessment, FMEA, and FTA at system and subsystem levels.
• Strong systems engineering knowledge and experience working across electronics, software, mechanical hardware, and hydraulics.
• Experience with functional safety standards including IEC 61508, EN 13849, ISO 26262, ISO 15998, ISO 25119, and IEC 62061, plus development practices such as CMMI, INCOSE, and ASPICE.
• Hands-on experience with vehicle system architectures and control systems, along with strong analytical, communication, and customer relationship skills.
