Primary Care Physician (Preventive & Lifestyle Medicine Focus)

Location: Hybrid role in New York City, including in-person clinic days, community and mobile care, and up to 2 remote telehealth days per week. In-person collaboration is based at Akido's Williamsburg, Brooklyn headquarters.

Salary: $245,000–$285,000 USD per year

What you will do

• Provide primary care to participants in the Worker Healthy Living Program.
• Lead and support group medical visits focused on nutrition, movement, sleep, stress management, and social connection.
• Collaborate with advanced practice clinicians, dietitians, health coaches, social workers, and medical assistants to deliver whole-person care.
• Oversee prevention and management of chronic conditions including diabetes, hypertension, obesity, and hyperlipidemia.
• Design, refine, and scale clinical workflows, outreach models, mobile care delivery, and community-based primary care.
• Provide clinical feedback on digital and AI-enabled tools, patient education, engagement strategies, and clinical decision support.

Requirements

• MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
• Board certification or eligibility in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine.
• 2–4 years of experience in primary care, internal medicine, family medicine, or community-based care.
• Active New York State medical license and DEA license required.
• Experience serving underserved or marginalized populations, with strong interpersonal, communication, and cross-cultural skills.
• Comfort working across mobile, field-based, in-person, and telehealth settings, including possible early mornings, evenings, or weekends.

Nice to have

• Experience with lifestyle medicine, preventive care, and chronic disease management.
• Background in community health, mobile medicine, or value-based care.
• Experience with group medical visits or team-based care.
• Bilingual ability, interest in digital health, or experience adopting AI-enabled clinical tools.
• Startup experience or lived experience reflecting the communities served.
